We are a 6 bed Residential treatment home for adolescent boys and girls with primary eating disorders.
Client Population: Boys and girls ages 9-18
Philosophy:Because each person has their own unique set of underlying triggers, and each eating disorder can vary in severity from person to person, specific individualized goals are set for each client. We work to remove stigma of pathology and shame by treating the whole individual and family, and not just the eating disorder by itself. Some of the ways we work to assist clients are by identifying underlying triggers, understanding why this eating disorder occurred and why it has persisted, help to develop a new set of skills to navigate one’s life and effectively cope with emotions and stress, assist to improve communication and relationships with loved ones, and finally, heal relationships with food through nutritional education and experiential activities. In addition, as eating disorders frequently co-exist with other mental health disorders, such as depression, anxiety, self-harm, obsessive compulsive disorder, bipolar disorder and substance abuse disorders, we believe it is absolutely essential that these co-occurring disorders are simultaneously addressed and treated in order for the individual to fully recover. |
